New In-Home Aged Care Meal Requirements: Is Your Menu (and Paperwork) Audit-Ready?
Secure your compliance before the new Act commences. We provide the mandatory annual dietitian assessments and Quality Assurance frameworks required for Support at Home providers.
Understanding the New Aged Care Menu Review Requirements
From 1 November 2025, the Aged Care Act 2024 and Aged Care Rules 2025 will introduce new obligations for all aged care providers delivering meals to older Australians. Whether you operate home-delivered meal programs, community-based services, or respite catering, your organisation must now ensure menus are:
- Nutritious and appetising
- Suitable for older adults’ needs, including specialised dietary requirements
- Assessed by a dietitian at least once every year
- Reviewed under a Quality Assurance Framework that captures feedback and supports continuous improvement
These changes are outlined under Section 148-20 of the Aged Care Rules 2025, and compliance will be monitored by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.
From 1 November 2025, the new Aged Care Act mandates that all providers delivering meals must meet strict new conditions of registration.
Navigating the new August 2025 guidance is complex. We provide more than just a menu review—we build the audit trail you need to prove compliance.
What You Must Do
Under the new rules, meals must be nutritious, appetising, and appropriate for older people’s needs. Beyond the food, you are now legally required to implement a Quality Assurance Framework. This means you must prove to auditors that you are continuously improving your menu based on dietitian recommendations and client satisfaction feedback.
